How JCRG started...

Founders Nova Payne and Ruby RuckusIn 2006, a group of like-minded mothers and Roller Derby Girls who were skating with another league decided to venture out on their own and start their own flat track derby league. With their derby names and alternative personas in tow, Nova, Ruby, Eryn, & Violet, the founders of Jet City Rollergirls LLC, undertook to forge their own way in Snohomish County history. They started Snohomish County's first and only amateur flat track roller derby league, the Jet City Rollergirls. After months of planning, recruiting, networking, and more planning, the Jet City Rollergirls were born and started rolling around the track in August 2006. Soon after, Sassy Pants joined the ranks of leadership with these fearless and dedicated women.

After a year of bumps and bruises both on and off the track, many fun events, and charitable appearances to raise funding for the league and to solicit support from the community, the Jet City Rollergirls debuted in May of 2007 at their first sold-out Exhibition Bout, featuring each of their four teams: CarnEvil, Camaro Harem, Pink Pistols and Hula Honeys. After two more Exhibition bouts in July and October respectively, and with the addition of a fifth team, a "select" travel team called the Jet City Bombers, the Jet City Rollergirls were ready to start their first "official" season in 2008 with a bang.

The core value of the Jet City Rollergirl Founders is, namely "By the Skater for the Skater". These women strongly believe in empowering women of all ages and genres through self-expression, athleticism and teamwork. They are committed to being positive role models to our younger female fans while promoting self-expression and individuality. The Jet City Rollergirls are proud to be 100% female managed with no outside corporate interest. These skaters do not get paid for what they do, they do it out of love for amateur sport and also to provide top notch athletic to all fans of roller derby.

We invite you to come see us at one of our bouts or events and to be part of the exciting world of women's flat track rollerderby, the fastest growing women's extreme sport in the country! Help support and make roller derby a reality in Snohomish County.
